Lifeboats Funding
The Coast Guard reimburses the Society for approximately two thirds of the $33,000 annual operating costs of the Society's work in carrying out the search and rescue missions.
The Society is reimbursed at the rate of approximately $100/hr for SAR Missions and training at one half that rate; covering fuel & consumables.
All of the program funds for the lifeboats and replacing worn out equipment must be raised by the Society. Vessels and equipment program costs are 70-75% of the Society's budget.
Public and local financial support for the Society is therefore critical to raising 85% (average) of the financial requirements of the Society of approximately $100,000 per year
Half of the operating and all of the project funding must be raised from the local community.
The society is registered as a Charitable Institution with CCRA, and issues tax receipts for donations.
