History

The North Shore Lifeboat Society is a registered charity and British Columbia Society since 1987.

The Society was initially formed in response to marine incidents, which are inevitable with this level of marine activity and the given environment. Over the years, the Society has been active in directly supporting the CCGA.

The all-volunteer Society is comprised of women and men with vastly varied backgrounds and age, who reside mostly on the North Shore. Most of the Society’s members also crew with the Auxiliary Units on the Society’s rescue vessels.

The North Shore of the lower mainland has a strong marine heritage, in all aspects from shipbuilding to commercial tug operations, and recreational boating.
